Princeton Ventures was founded
by two long-time friends to invest in great entrepreneurs
and companies.
JIM WASKOVICH, MANAGING PARTNER
Jim has spent his entire career working with growth companies
as a venture capitalist and advisor and founded Princeton
Ventures with the mission of partnering with the nation's
most promising privately held companies to help create market-leading
businesses.
Jim began his private equity career at Summit Partners,
a $9 billion private equity firm in Boston where he was
responsible for sourcing and executing investments in the
Technology and Business Services industries. Prior to Princeton
Ventures, Jim was with ABS Capital Partners, a $1.7 billion
venture firm in Baltimore where he sourced and executed
several investments, including the firm's largest investment
to date. While at ABS, Jim participated on the boards of
Double-Take Software and Rosetta Stone Inc. and worked with
portfolio companies Cyveillance, DrugMax (Nasdaq: DMAX),
eFashion Solutions, Emptoris, and RLX Technologies (sold
to HP). He also has experience in the M&A and Technology
Investment Banking groups at First Union Securities (now
Wachovia Securities) where he executed a variety of middle
market transactions. He recently led an investment in The
Hanover Research Council, the world's largest SME-focused
research firm. Jim received his B.A. from the Williams School
of Commerce at Washington and Lee University where he double
majored in Politics and Economics. Jim is passionate about
identifying and working with some of our nation's most promising
leaders and has gotten to know more than 1,500 entrepreneurs
over his career.
BILL MARTIN, PARTNER
Bill has over ten years of experience investing in and
growing market-leading public and private businesses.
Bill launched his career in 1997 as the founding partner
and CEO of Raging Bull, Inc., a consumer-focused online
investment site that attracted more than $20 million in
venture financing from CMGI and C|NET Networks. After growing
into one of the largest financial destinations on the Web,
Bill sold Raging Bull in 2000. Subsequently, Bill has been
actively involved in a number of successful public and private
companies. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors
of Bankrate, Inc. (Nasdaq: RATE) and has served on the boards
of ByteTaxi (dba FolderShare), CallStreet, and Foresight
Research Solutions. Bill has also been an active investor
in the institutional investment research sector, making
venture investments into upstarts such as CallStreet, Gerson
Lehrman Group, Lux Research, and Majestic Research. In 2002,
Bill founded Indie Research, LLC, an online provider of
proprietary investment and research tools for individual
and institutional investors. Indie Research has four products:
FindProfit, InsiderScore, Next Inning Technology Research,
and The Bull Market Report. He is Chairman and Chief Investment
Officer of Raging Capital Management, a hedge fund focused
on small to mid-cap public equities. Bill is also the Chairman
of University Relations for Jumpstart NJ Angel Network where
he directs university outreach programs such as the Princeton
University-Jumpstart Lecture Series on Technology Entrepreneurship.
Bill has appeared on CNBC and Fox News and been profiled
on CBS' 48 Hours and Oprah. He has been featured in publications
such as Brill's Content, Forbes.com, Inc. Magazine, New
York Magazine, The NY Post, and The Wall Street Journal.
He has also been a guest speak at Deloitte & Touche,
Fordham School of Business, Harvard Business School, Harvard
Law School, Indiana University, MIT, Price Waterhouse, and
The University of Virginia.
JEREMY TARTACK, CFA, VICE PRESIDENT
Jeremy has spent his entire career in the investment industry as an investment banker, trader, and asset manager. He has built several businesses including a fixed income trading desk and asset management business, and he has developed several software applications to improve operations. Most recently, Jeremy was an Investment Banker at Starboard Capital Markets where sourced and executed a variety of public and private equity transaction. Prior to Starboard, Jeremy served as a Head Trader and then Portfolio Manager at Seslia Securities where he managed several discretionary large and small cap growth equity portfolios as well as fixed income assets. Jeremy also redeveloped the equity asset management process helping to create a marketable product that enabled the firm to increase its assets under management and profitability.
Jeremy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He serves as a member of the CFA Institute and is on the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Philadelphia where he chairs the Downtown Programs Committee. He is also a member and former President of the Bond Club of Philadelphia, a board member of the Interact Theatre, and a member and former Chair of the Young Executive Committee at the Pyramid Club. |
